Trump’s Tweet – Childish and Undignified

December 31, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

… and this is going to be our President.

NBC News, “As 2016 comes to a close, world leaders appear just as eager to start fresh in the new year. President-elect Donald Trump, however, couldn’t let this year go without taking another dig at his critics.”[1]

New York Times, “Even a holiday known for its good cheer, it seems, could not dull Mr. Trump’s penchant for doling out taunts and insults via Twitter.”[2]

Choir Member Resigns Rather Sing at Inauguration

December 30, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

Associated Press, “The announcement that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony hasn’t been met with universal applause. Former choir member John Bonner, for one, said he was shocked and upset when he heard the news.”[2]

A petition is being created by Change.org, “We, as signers of this petition, believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ decision to allow the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to perform at the upcoming presidential inauguration of Donald Trump DOES NOT reflect the values of Mormonism and does not represent its diverse 15+ million members worldwide.”[3]

Dakota Access Pipeline – Our Revolution

December 30, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

Our Revolution, ‘Earlier this month [December 2016], we won a major victory in North Dakota when the government halted construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Native American activists and their allies joined together to stop this disastrous pipeline from contaminating tribal lands and water. Thanks to your support, Our Revolution raised more than $200,000 to support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and collected nearly 250,000 petition signatures to oppose construction of the pipeline.”[1]

Trans-Pacific Partnership – Our Revolution

December 30, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

Our Revolution, “[In November], our political revolution defeated the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This was a central issue during Bernie’s presidential campaign, and our movement kept up the pressure until it was clear that this horrible trade deal would not come up for a vote during the lame duck session.
During the Democratic National Convention, more than 2,000 of us demonstrated in Philadelphia to show opposition to the TPP. And together we made more than 50,000 calls into Congress and sent 100,000 text messages to stop the TPP.”[1]

Yes, Churches Can Help Fight the Trump Administration

December 29, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

Read and join groups like Faithful America – Love They Neighbor – No Exceptions. [1]

Faithful American, “Faithful America is the largest and fastest-growing online community of Christians putting faith into action for social justice. Our members are sick of sitting by quietly while Jesus’ message of good news is hijacked by the religious right to serve a hateful political agenda. We’re organizing the faithful to challenge such extremism and renew the church’s prophetic role in building a more free and just society.”[2]

Shame on Trump…. Taking credit where credit is NOT due

December 29, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

MSNBC, “The trouble, as Politico acknowledged soon after, is that Trump was pulling a scam he’s leaned on many times: those new jobs were announced months ago. The president-elect wanted credit for others’ work, hoping the public – and news organizations – wouldn’t notice.”[1]

Trump Stepping on the Little Guy

December 27, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

Las Vegas Sun, “He has used legal means to refuse to pay his creditors the contractual amounts in his businesses. He has the right to do so, and it shows his disregard for people who work for a living even in the middle class. It appears that he will litigate a conflict that would be fiscally imprudent for his creditor to proceed through a trial, and therefore, will settle the claim for a small percentage of the amount due. Trump has the financial resources to do this (as do many other extremely wealthy individuals).”[1]

The Boston Globe, “Trump boasted of his prowess at a rally in Michigan on Aug. 11. “You have to be able to do certain things” if you want to be successful, he crowed. “[I] beat the hell out of people. . . . I know how to get things.””[2]

Seven Deadly Sins

December 26, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

American Newsx, “Evangelicals, the most devout of said Christians, are falling at the feet of Donald J. Trump. Four of the biggest evangelical leaders, the Rev. Franklin Graham, Pastor Joel Osteen, Jerry Falwell, Jr. and Pastor Robert Jeffries of Texas, have personally endorsed Trump. Evangelical Christians are filling up his rallies and lashing out at peaceful protesters. Do they not see that this false prophet is a walking, talking, breathing example of the “seven deadly sins” of pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth? Spiritual leaders through the ages have warned Christians to avoid these sins at all costs or be “in peril of damnation after death.” “[1]

Queerty, “Here are some prime examples of how Trump illustrates the worst vices in the Christian tradition, mostly in his own words.”[2]

Thank You Obamas for a Fantastic Eight Years of Recovery

December 24, 2016 by The Staff Leave a Comment

The White House, “President and the First Lady wished all Americans a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. They reflected on the honor of serving the American people as President and First Lady over the past eight years and the progress that has been made. The President and the First Lady recognized our troops and their families for their service, and they encouraged everyone to visit JoiningForces.gov to find out how to support service members, veterans, and military families in your community.”[1]
