Republicans Who Voted Against the Equality Act

February 28, 2021 by The Staff

Shame on Them

“The Equality Act passed 224-to-206, with all Democrats and only three Republicans — Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), John Katko (NY), and Tom Reed (NY) — voting to support the bill. Curious to know which Republicans shamefully voted against preventing anti-LGBTQ discrimination?” 1

Biggs and Green Against Equality Act

February 28, 2021 by The Staff

Andy Biggs is WRONG. “That may be one of the worst pieces of legislation I’ve seen in a long time, and I’ve seen a lot of bad legislation. If it passes, it’s going to be on party line, but not only does it take religious liberty, freedom of association,” Rep. Andy Biggs, an Arizona Republican, told the Washington Examiner, “it impacts women’s sports. It redefines so much.” 2

Marjorie Taylor Greene is WRONG. “When a voice vote was called to begin debate of the bill, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, trying to delay Thursday’s vote, called for an adjournment vote. The motion failed 202 yeas to 214 nays. The subsequent rule votes for the bill on Wednesday went on as scheduled.” 3

The Equality Act

February 27, 2021 by The Staff

Scales of Justice

LBGTQ Nation, John Gallagher, February 25, 2021 – Will enough Republican senators sign onto the Equality Act for it to pass? Probably not. Thanks to arcane Senate rules, Democrats need ten Republican votes to pass the Equality Act. That’s a very tall order.

Oath Keepers Indictment

February 21, 2021 by The Staff

Law enforcement and news-media organizations observed that members of an organization known as the Oath Keepers were among the individuals and groups who forcibly entered the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Oath Keepers are a large but loosely organized collection of individuals, some of whom are associated with militias. Some members of the Oath Keepers believe that the federal government has been coopted by a cabal of elites actively trying to strip American citizens of their rights. Though the Oath Keepers will accept anyone as members, they explicitly focus on recruiting current and former military, law enforcement, and first -responder personnel. The organization’s name alludes to the oath sworn by members of the military and police to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.” The Oath Keepers are led by PERSON ONE. 3

Shirkey, Mike (R-MI State Senate Majority Leader)

February 17, 2021 by The Staff

Mike Shirkey

“That wasn’t Trump people. That’s been a hoax from day one,” Michigan state Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R) said of the riot last week. He added that it “was all staged.” He later apologized for his remarks — but was caught on an open mic admitting that he still held those views. 4

The claim: “Too many dead people voted” in Michigan. Michigan’s top elected Republican relied on an oft-repeated and inaccurate claim about dead voters to bolster his argument for changes in state election law. 5
